Characterisation (Reflection)

Dear young ladies an gentlemen

(1) Through the recent activity of doing the character map and conducting an interview with Ian Rellik(Renwick) and Jacob, what have you learnt about characterization?

  1. 1) To be able to be more convincing in acting, characterization is important, so to be able to display the the characteristics of the role.

    2) In videos, the actors do the actions literally, whereas on paper, we write the actions with a description to give a greater elaboration on what they are doing.

  2. Characterisation is a very important thing as it gives your characters a unique feature which helps different shapes various characters. Example would be the way the character speaks/moves etc.

It does not differ from paper/writing. Instead of showing the actions, you are basically writing the actions down using words.

  5. 1) I have learnt that characterisation allows us to give the characters a personality. Characterisation is done through speech, appearance, other's opinions and actions.

    2) When writing on paper, you have a choice to show certain features such as appearances and tone. However, when filming, the way the person looks and how they talk has to be seen or heard.

    2) In videos, the expression of the characters are very important. On the other hand, paper relies on elaborate description to play the role of characterization.
